Overview

20 - 25, Nov 2024

With its many important archaeological and religious sites, Israel is a melting pot of history and culture, where east meets west and traditional meets modern around every corner.

Israel is often referred to as 'the land of milk and honey' which perfectly sums up this small yet abundant country. Israel takes only a few hours to cross yet offers an eclectic mix of people and cultures, fascinating sites and beautiful landscapes. It is of great importance for three of the world's major faiths - Christianity, Judaism and Islam.  About the size of New Jersey, with its beautiful beaches and ancient towns it is a magnet for those fascinated by the country’s biblical past.  We'll visit well known sites like Tel Aviv, Bethlehem and Nazareth, as well as enjoying a boat trip on the Sea of Galilee, ascending the Golan Heights and overlooking Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives.

DAY 1 - Welcome to Israel

This morning, we leave Jordan behind as we cross the border at Arava and enter Israel

We drive along the shores of the Dead Sea to Masada where you will learn about the heroic story of the Jewish fighters. Ascend by cable car and tour the mountain fortress built by King Herod, where the Zealots of the first century made their last stand against the Romans. We then visit the remains of the walls, palace, synagogue, water cisterns, mosaic floors, roman baths and other findings

After descending by cable car, we continue to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on the earth’s surface. Bring your swimsuit as, if weather permits, it’s possible to “float” on the salty, mineral rich, water.

We continue our journey to our final stop for the day, Jerusalem.

Included meals: Dinner
Accommodation: Hotel Ramada, Jerusalem (or similar)

DAY 2 - Jerusalem's New City & Bethlehem

After breakfast, we head out to visit the beautifully renovated model of the Herodian city of Jerusalem, dating back to the time of the Second Temple.

We continue to Yad Vashem, the memorial to the six million Jews who were killed in the Holocaust.

In the afternoon, we drive to the picturesque village of Eni Karem, claimed as the birthplace of John the Baptist before continuing to Bethlehem to visit the Church of the Nativity and a view of the Shepherd's Fields.

Included meals: Breakfast & Dinner
Accommodation: Hotel Ramada, Jerusalem (or similar)

DAY 3 - Walking in the steps of the Bible

We start the day with a panoramic view of Jerusalem from atop the Mount of Olives before we head on to the Garden of Gethsemane and Church of the Agony.

We later enter through one of the Gates to the walled Old City of Jerusalem to visit the renewed Jewish Quarter, the Western Wall, the Temple area and the colorful bazaars. Walk along the Via Dolorosa and the Stations of the Cross, ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Later in the day we drive to Mount Zion and visit the tomb of King David, the Room of the Last Supper and Dormition Abbey

Included meals: Breakfast & Dinner
Accommodation: Hotel Ramada, Jerusalem (or similar)

DAY 4 - Historic Jericho & Nazareth

We depart Jerusalem after breafkast and drive through the Judean Desert to Jericho, the oldest city in the world.

Here we will get a distant view of the Mount of Temptation, identified as the mountain from which Satan tempted Jesus with dominion over "all the kingdoms of the world".

We continue our journey through the Jordan Valley and the new settlements to Beit Shean, where we visit the excavations of this beautiful preserved Roman City.

Later we finish our journey in Nazareth the town where Jesus spent his childhood, visiting the Church of Annunciation and the Church of St. Joseph before checking in to our hotel

Included meals: Breakfast & Dinner
Accommodation: Hotel Lake House, Tiberius (or similar)

DAY 5 - Lively Tel Aviv

After breakfast, we check out from hotel and drive to Tel Aviv, the lively coastal city.

Take in the colorful hustle and bustle of Tel Aviv as we begin at Rabin Square, a historical plaza in the city center, where you can pay your respects at the Holocaust memorial monument and visit the recently constructed ecological water pool.

From there, head to the White City of Tel Aviv, a neighborhood holding the largest collection of Bauhaus architecture in the world. Built in the mid-20th century, it was eventually designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its exemplary modern design. Old Jaffa will be next, an ancient port-town-turned-artist colony that happens to be the oldest neighborhood in Tel Aviv. Wander through the beautifully restored Zodiac Alleyways before making a final stop at the Carmel Market or how we call it Shuk HaCarmel, Tel Aviv’s largest and most-centrally located shuk: From hand-made Jachnun, a traditional Yemenite dish, to boutique cheeses, and from one-off cotton clothes to designer threads.
We enjoy dinner together this evening to round off our time in Israel.

Included meals: Breakfast & Dinner
Accommodation: Hotel Prima Tel Aviv, Tel Aviv (or similar)

DAY 6 - Goodbye to Israel

Sadly, time to say goodbye and head for the airport for your homeward journey. Transfers will be arranged from the hotel to the airport in time for your flight
